## What it is

The developer API behind Birdeye, the Solana-born DEX token tracker. What you are buying is the
DEX side of the market as structured data: spot prices and OHLCV per token and per pool, trade
lists, token lists and new listings, holder distributions, token security checks and wallet
net worth and PnL. It also carries a separate Perps Data API group for Hyperliquid
perpetuals — token-side open positions, liquidation context and wallet-level perp exposure.

The buyer writes code: trading bots, wallets, token dashboards and agents that need a Solana
token price within seconds of a swap. The birdeye.so website and its apps — the screener and
trading terminal most people know the brand by — are a different product with a different buyer,
and this card does not describe them.

Delivery is REST on every package, websockets from Premium up (price/OHLCV, token and pair
trades, new listings, new pairs, large trades, wallet transactions and token stats), an MCP
server, and pay-per-request access over x402 for agents with no account at all. The API is
branded Birdeye Data in the docs and was Birdeye Data Services before that; the dashboard still
lives at bds.birdeye.so.

## Pricing

Eight published packages from free to $2,050 a month, plus an AutoScale plan and Enterprise, all in
USD. The prices above are the monthly base. Prepaid terms are discounted — the CU carry-over
policy cites a standard 30% discount on a 12-month prepay as its example — but the discount table
sits on the marketing pricing page, which returned a Cloudflare challenge on 2026-10-04, so the
figures here are from the pricing page in the vendor's own documentation.

**A compute unit is not a call.** Every request costs a published number of CUs and the number
varies by more than thirty to one. On the vendor's cost table: `/defi/price` is 3 CU,
`/defi/v3/token/market-data` 8, a page of trades 10 to 12, `/defi/token_overview` 15, the V3 token
list 50, and the scroll version of it 300. OHLCV is priced by result size — 12 CU for up to 100
candles, rising to 100 CU for up to 5,000 on the V3 endpoint. Batch endpoints charge
`ceil(base × count^0.8)`, so 100 prices in one multi-price call cost 120 CU rather than 300.
Websockets are billed per byte pushed, at per-channel rates from 0.00015 CU a byte for the trades
stream to 0.04 for new-listing events.

Total monthly cost is the base price plus overage at the package's per-million rate, which falls
from $23 on Lite to $3.50 on B-50. Two ceilings bind before the bill does. The free Standard
package has no overage at all. Paid packages cap monthly usage at five times the included
allowance; past that the account is suspended unless auto-renewal for max usage is switched on.
Unused CUs expire at the end of each month unless a prepaid plan of three months or more buys
carry-over, which costs 10 points of the prepay discount.

x402 is the one path with no account: unauthenticated requests to the `/x402` routes return
`402 Payment Required` with payment terms (checked on 2026-10-04), and the client settles each
request in USDC. The agents page prices that at $0.003 a request and names Base and Solana as
settlement networks; the x402 reference page says prices are set per route and lists only Solana.
Read both before budgeting an agent on it.

## Data & coverage

Seventeen networks on the supported-networks page on 2026-10-04 — Solana, Ethereum, BNB Smart
Chain, Base, Robinhood, Sui, Mantle, HyperEVM, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, Optimism,
zkSync Era, Monad, Aptos, Fogo and MegaETH — and a claim of 300+ DEXes and AMMs. The page itself
warns that it "may not be updated with the latest development".

The chain count overstates the even part. The vendor's access table, effective 26 November 2025,
marks every holder, transfer, balance-change, wallet portfolio, net-worth and PnL endpoint
"only solana", along with mint/burn transactions, token creation info, the V3 token list and the
liquidity history and OHLC series. Price, OHLCV, trades, token overview, market lists and search
are the endpoints marked for all chains. If the job is anything wallet-shaped on an EVM chain,
this is not the API for it.

Prices are derived from DEX pools, not centralised-exchange tapes, so a token's number is a pool
composite and will diverge from a CEX quote for the same asset. OHLCV V3 adds 1-, 15- and
30-second candles and returns up to 5,000 records a call without padding empty candles; the older
endpoint stops at 1,000.

Rate limits are per account, not per key or per endpoint — every request your account makes
draws on one bucket. Wallet endpoints are a separate exception: still in beta and capped at 5
requests a second and 75 a minute on every package, Business included.

## Integrations

There is no first-party SDK named in the documentation; requests are plain REST with the key in
an `X-API-KEY` header and the chain in `x-chain`. The docs ship an `llms.txt` index and a
Markdown copy of every page, which is what makes them readable by a coding agent.

The MCP server is first-party and in beta, at `mcp.birdeye.so/mcp`. The docs describe two modes on
the same endpoint — a public keyless one for testing and an authenticated one that unlocks every
tool under your plan — but an unauthenticated `initialize` POST returned 401 on 2026-10-04, so
plan on needing a key. The docs warn that tool names, response shapes and rate limits may change.

## Limitations

Solana is the product; the other sixteen chains are prices and trades. Wallet, holder and
transfer intelligence on EVM chains is mostly not available at any price.

No centralised-exchange data and no order books. The perps group covers Hyperliquid and nothing
else.

The free package is a sampler, not a tier: 30,000 CUs is 10,000 spot-price calls or about 2,000
token overviews a month at one request a second, and the vendor's own pages disagree about how
much of the API it reaches — the rate-limit page says three endpoints, the access table marks
several dozen.

Websockets start at $199 a month. Below Premium, near-real-time means polling at 15 requests a
second.

Batch and "multiple" endpoints — multi-address market data, trade data, holder batches, PnL for
several wallets — are Business-only, at $499 a month. Lite can batch prices and nothing else.

## Alternatives

[GeckoTerminal](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/geckoterminal) covers far more networks for free at about 10 calls a minute,
and its paid throughput is sold as the onchain endpoints of the [CoinGecko API](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/coingecko-api).
[DEX Screener](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/dex-screener) has a free keyless API for pair lookups. For Solana wallet and
transfer history queried in SQL rather than per endpoint, [Dune](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/dune) and
[Bitquery](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/bitquery) are the usual next stops.

## FAQ

### Is the Birdeye API free?

There is a free Standard package — 30,000 compute units a month at one request a second, against a limited set of endpoints, with no option to buy overage. Paid packages start at $39 a month for 2.5 million compute units.

### What is a Birdeye compute unit?

The billing unit, and it is not a request. A spot price costs 3 CUs, a token overview 15, a page of trades 10 to 12, and an OHLCV call 12 to 100 depending on how many candles come back. Websockets are billed per byte of data pushed, at a different rate per channel.

### Which chains does the Birdeye API cover?

Its supported-networks page listed 17 on 2026-10-04 — Solana, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Base, Robinhood, Sui, Mantle, HyperEVM, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, zkSync Era, Monad, Aptos, Fogo and MegaETH. Coverage is uneven, though — most wallet, holder and transfer endpoints are marked Solana only.

### Can an AI agent pay for Birdeye data without an account?

Yes, through x402. Requests to the /x402-prefixed routes come back 402 Payment Required with payment terms, the agent signs a USDC payment, and the data is returned — $0.003 a request by the docs. Websocket streams are not available that way.

### Does Birdeye have an MCP server?

Yes, an official one in beta at mcp.birdeye.so. The docs describe a keyless public mode and an authenticated mode that takes your API key; on 2026-10-04 an unauthenticated initialize request to that endpoint returned 401.
