## What it is

A hosted platform for automated trading rules — "if this happens, do that" — run against exchange
accounts you connect with API keys. Coinrule never holds the funds. It is a London-based, Y
Combinator-backed company, and it currently sells **two generations of the same idea side by
side**.

**The legacy app** at coinrule.com is the product most reviews describe: a visual rule builder in
which a rule is a stack of conditions (price moves, indicator crosses, time triggers) and actions,
plus a library of template rules, an AI Optimizer that tunes a rule's parameters, leveraged
trading, a strategy marketplace, and iOS and Android apps.

**Coinrule Cloud**, at cloud.coinrule.com, replaces the builder with a text box. You paste a
strategy written in plain English, Python pseudocode or Pine Script; an AI parses it into a
structured rule — entry and exit conditions, indicators, timeframe, risk controls, capital
allocation — that you review and edit before deploying it as an "agent". It adds multi-scenario
backtesting and **baskets**, scheduled weighted buys across a set of assets. The vendor's migration
page, updated 10 September 2026, says the legacy app "continues to run and is not being shut down,
but all new development is on Coinrule Cloud".

The two do not share data. Only the plan tier transfers, through what the vendor calls plan
inheritance; strategies, exchange connections and trade history have to be re-created on Cloud.

## Pricing

Both generations are on sale at once, on two different pricing pages, and the card records both.

**Coinrule Cloud** bills in **credits**, through Stripe. Free is one paper agent and 50 credits a
month. Investor is 19.99 dollars a month for 3 agents, 1 exchange and 1,000 credits; Trader 49.99
for 10 agents, 5 exchanges and 10,000 credits; Pro 975 for unlimited agents and 100,000 credits.
Annual billing is 178.99, 443.99 and 9,750 a year. Overage is 0.02 dollars a credit.

A credit is not an order. The vendor's cost table charges 1 credit per deploy plus 1 per entry or
exit condition, 2 per indicator above the first three, 0.5 per watched market per day, 1 per
market per day for sub-minute intervals, 2 to open a position and 1 to close it, 0.1 per 1,000
dollars traded, 1 per TradingView signal, and AI parsing at a multiple that depends on the model
chosen — 1× for Haiku, 3× for Sonnet, 15× for Opus, per 1,000 tokens. The vendor's own worked
example, an RSI and EMA strategy on one pair on hourly candles, comes to about 29 credits a month.

**The legacy app** is priced by number of rules and monthly traded volume. Investor is 39.99
dollars month to month, Trader 79.99 and Pro 995; the page opens on the annual toggle, which shows
29.99, 59.99 and 749. Volume caps are 3,000 dollars a month on Free, 500,000 on Investor, 10
million on Trader and unlimited on Pro. The homepage's cost calculator still quotes Pro at 449.99,
which matches neither figure on the pricing page.

Strategies bought on the legacy marketplace are a separate charge on top of a paid plan, one-off
or by subscription, set by the seller.

There is no fixed trial. Cloud's docs say a trial, when the team offers one, covers every paid
plan, needs a payment method up front, and runs for a length shown at checkout.

## Data & coverage

**Coinrule Cloud documents six venues**: Binance, Coinbase, Kraken spot and Kraken Futures
perpetuals, Hyperliquid, KuCoin, and Trading 212 for stocks and ETFs. Its pricing page says "30+
exchanges", which its own exchange documentation does not support.

**The legacy app's connection guides cover more**: Binance and Binance Futures, Bybit spot and
futures, Coinbase Advanced Trade and Coinbase perpetuals, Kraken, KuCoin and KuCoin Futures, OKX
and OKX Futures, Bitget spot and futures, and Hyperliquid. It also lists DeFi rules executed from a
smart account tied to a connected wallet, documented in an article last updated January 2025 that
does not name the chain.

Both generations connect US brokers too — Alpaca, Trading 212, Webull, Public, E*TRADE and Tradier
on the legacy side. That is outside what this catalogue covers and nothing here evaluates it.

Market data comes from the connected venue. Cloud backtests run on historical candles up to two
years back, fill at the next bar's open, and model **no fees and no slippage** — the vendor says
so. Rules evaluate on intervals of a minute or longer; sub-minute evaluation costs extra credits.

## Integrations

**An MCP server**, at `cloud.coinrule.com/mcp`, over Streamable HTTP with OAuth 2.1 — so no API key
is pasted into a chat client. An unauthenticated MCP `initialize` request returned 401 on 4 October
2026, while a fabricated path beside it returned 404. The connection asks for read-only, which can
inspect strategies, balances, holdings, trades, signals, P&L and backtests, or read-and-write, which
adds tools to create, launch, start and stop strategies, launch baskets and run backtests. **It
requires a Coinrule Cloud account**, even though the legacy help centre documents it too.

**TradingView webhooks**, inbound: each launched strategy gets a webhook URL and a secret, limited
to 30 signals per 60 seconds per strategy and charged 1 credit per accepted signal on Cloud. On the
legacy app, TradingView signals start at the Trader plan. Notifications go out by email and
Telegram, and by text message on legacy Pro.

**No public REST API.** The vendor's migration table answers "No" for both generations. Cloud's Pro
plan lists "programmatic API access" and "custom alerting and webhooks" without documenting what
they are; the flag follows the documentation.

## Limitations

**Not offered in the EU or EEA.** The footer says the services are not intended for residents of
either, and that Coinrule holds no CASP licence under MiCA.

**Two products under one name, with no bridge between them.** A reader comparing reviews, prices
or exchange lists has to know which generation each describes. Moving from legacy to Cloud means
rebuilding every strategy and re-issuing every exchange key.

**Credits make the Cloud price hard to forecast.** Every condition, indicator, watched market,
fill and parse draws on the same balance, so the cost of a strategy depends on how it is written
and how often it trades, not only on the plan.

**Cloud deliberately leaves out whole strategy types.** Its docs say cross-exchange arbitrage,
market making and scalping below one-minute intervals are not supported.

**The backtester flatters.** No fees, no slippage, no liquidity limit, market orders only, two
years at most — the vendor documents each of those, and the result is an upper bound rather than
an estimate.

**Some of what runs is chosen by someone else, and it is labelled.** The legacy marketplace sells
strategies from independent traders, which the vendor says are manually checked and backtested
and not advice; Cloud's curated baskets — Layer 1 majors, DeFi blue chips, AI and DePIN, a memecoin
index — carry weights the Coinrule team sets and may change. Both sit beside the rules you write,
not in place of them.

## Alternatives

[3Commas](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/3commas) and [Cryptohopper](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/cryptohopper) are the hosted platforms most
often weighed against Coinrule, with more bot types; Cryptohopper also runs a marketplace, which
3Commas dropped when v2 replaced v1 in September 2026.
[HaasOnline TradeServer](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/haasonline) trades the no-code builder for a scripting language
and can be self-hosted. [OctoBot](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/octobot) is open source and runs on your own machine.

## FAQ

### What is the difference between Coinrule and Coinrule Cloud?

Coinrule Cloud is the newer product, where you describe a strategy in plain English, Python or Pine Script and an AI turns it into a rule you review before it runs. The original app on coinrule.com uses a visual if-this-then-that builder. The vendor says the original keeps running and is not being shut down, but all new development is on Cloud. Only the plan tier carries over between them — strategies, exchange keys and trade history do not.

### Is Coinrule free?

Each generation has a free plan. Coinrule Cloud's is paper trading only — one agent and 50 credits a month. The legacy app's free plan can trade live, within two running rules and 3,000 dollars of monthly volume.

### Can I use Coinrule from the EU?

The vendor says no. Its footer states that its services are not intended for, directed at or marketed to residents of the EU or EEA, and that it does not hold a CASP licence under MiCA; any access from there is at the user's own risk.

### Can an AI assistant trade through the Coinrule MCP server?

Only if you grant it write access. During the OAuth connection you choose read-only, which can inspect strategies, balances, trades and backtests, or read-and-write, which adds tools to create, launch, start and stop strategies and launch baskets. The server needs a Coinrule Cloud account.
