# Whale Alert

Large on-chain transfers, named by owner where known, pushed to your browser or phone.

**Best for:** traders who want a push notification when a large labelled transfer or a stablecoin mint lands on a chain they follow; not for following an address you chose or querying flows yourself.

## What it is

A web dashboard that watches a set of public blockchains for large transfers and tells you about
them. Each alert carries the amount, the coin, its USD value, the chain, and the owners of the
sending and receiving addresses where Whale Alert has a name for them — usually an exchange —
otherwise "unknown wallet". Whale Alert says the attribution is also what lets it drop transfers
an owner makes to itself.

Most readers know the product from its free posts on X and Telegram. Those are the **official**
alerts, and they fire above per-asset thresholds that the vendor's Whale Limits page sets, where
either side is known, at 20 million dollars for most assets, 50 million for Bitcoin, Ethereum,
Solana and XRP and 100 million for stablecoins — roughly double where neither side is known — and
says may change with the asset's price.
The paid dashboard exists to lower those thresholds and to choose what to hear about: a coin, a
chain, a transaction type, a value.

Beside the alerts sit an analytics section and a news feed. The analytics are holder metrics
computed from the same transfer data — realised profit, an average-buy-profit ratio the vendor
describes as a refinement of SOPR, short- against long-term holder supply, average buy price —
and the news feed is selected by an AI, which is why `ai_features` reads `research` here.

The company is Whale Alert B.V., founded in 2018 by its own account.

This card is the dashboard. The developer API is sold separately, to a separate account, and is
described under Integrations rather than on a card of its own.

## Pricing

**Free use is real but small.** The vendor's FAQ describes it as an overview of the most recent
alerts, BTC and USDT analytics and the AI-curated news. Subscribers get custom filters and a
quota of up to 1,000 alerts a day; free users see "a limited selection of the biggest transfers".

**Two paid plans**, both in US dollars, both with a 7-day free trial and cancellable at any time:

- **Alerts**, 14.95 a month — custom alert filters for 100+ assets, push notifications on web,
iOS and Android, up to 1,000 alerts a day, no ads.
- **Alerts, Analytics & News**, 29.95 a month — the above plus on-chain metrics for all coins,
the AI-curated news feed and news push notifications.

No annual price is printed anywhere on the site. The FAQ says cryptocurrency payments are taken
only for yearly subscriptions, with a one-year minimum and no refunds, and to use the contact
form for that; card payments go through Stripe, with PayPal, Visa, Revolut, Apple Pay, Link and
Bancontact accepted, and renew automatically. There are no partial refunds.

The FAQ describes one paid plan, "Alerts & Analytics" at 29.95, and does not mention the 14.95
Alerts plan. The pricing table, read on 23 October 2026, is the one the card follows.

## Data & coverage

**Thirteen chains by the FAQ's list:** Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, Dogecoin, Algorand, Solana,
Polygon, Litecoin, Cardano, Bitcoin Cash, Plasma, Tempo and Hyperliquid. The developer
documentation counts 14 for the API and names Ripple among them, which the FAQ list leaves out;
the dashboard's own alert page has a preset for XRP transfers. Analytics are not available for
SOL or for stablecoins on Solana.

**What an alert can be.** The dashboard's filter offers transfers, mints, burns, locks and
freezes, unlocks and unfreezes, **dormant activations** — an address that has been inactive for a
long time moving again — and high-fee transactions. A user can keep up to 10 filters, each capped
at 100 alerts a day.

**Labels change.** The API changelog for 20 August 2026 lists "real-time live updating of address
owners and attributes as data becomes available", so the name on an older transfer can be revised
after the fact. The vendor publishes no method or confidence grade for its attributions.

**Charts export.** The analytics charts offer a PNG, an SVG and a CSV of the visible range from
the chart menu. Whether the CSV option works on the free view was not checked.

## Integrations

**No native app and no outbound webhook from the dashboard.** Notifications reach a phone as web
push: the FAQ says to add the site to the home screen on iOS and to allow notifications on
Android. For email, Slack or Telegram, the FAQ points to the WebSocket API with IFTTT — that is,
to the developer product.

**The developer API** lives on a separate host, under a separate developer account, with a
separate subscription that has to be cancelled separately. Read on 23 October 2026:

- **Alerts API**, 29.95 USD a month with a 7-day trial: a WebSocket feed of custom alerts on 14
chains and 100+ assets, filtered by chain, symbol, transaction type and a minimum value of at
least 100,000 dollars, capped at 100 alerts an hour, with exchange attribution and stablecoin
mints and burns. **Personal use only.** A reconnect within five minutes under the same
  subscription id replays missed alerts.
- **Enterprise API**, 699 USD a month: a REST stream of every transaction for the tracked
assets, pricing data, 90 days of history, 500 calls a minute, and the alerts feed at 10,000 an
  hour.
- **Enterprise Big**, from 2,000 USD a month on a quote: full history on 12 of the 14 chains
(Solana and Ripple are the exceptions), bulk exports as JSON or Parquet (added 14 September
2026), 1,000+ calls a minute and 20,000 alerts an hour on a dedicated server.

A free archive of past official alerts, and a day of Enterprise sample data per chain, can be
downloaded from the developer documentation. No MCP server is documented on either host.

## Limitations

**It does not follow an address you choose.** The dashboard filters on chain, coin, transaction
type and value — never on an address or an owner. The `wallet_tracking` flag on this card means
something narrower than on the labelled platforms: large holders' transfers, named where the
vendor can name them, and dormant addresses waking up. An address filter exists only on the
Enterprise API's transactions endpoint.

**A transfer is not a trade.** The vendor's FAQ reads coins moving to an exchange as a possible
sell-off and coins leaving one as accumulation. The alert records a transfer between two
addresses and a name on each end; what the owner meant by it is not in the data, and the card
records only the transfer.

**The labels are a judgement.** "Unknown wallet" is the honest default, and where a name appears
there is no published method, no confidence grade and no date on it — and since August 2026 the
owners can be updated after the alert went out.

**Thresholds shape what "whale" means.** The official alerts start at 20 million dollars; the
paid filters go lower, and the Alerts API will not go under 100,000 dollars. A chain or token
outside the list above is not watched at all.

**Two accounts for one vendor.** A dashboard subscription does not include the API, and the two
are billed and cancelled in different places — the FAQ's troubleshooting section carries an
entry for people trying to cancel on the wrong account.

## Alternatives

[Arkham](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/arkham) and [Nansen](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/nansen) are bought for the labels themselves: search an
entity, see its wallets, and get an alert when it moves — Arkham grades its attributions, Nansen
attaches them to its own Smart Money cohorts. Both let you follow an address you choose, which this
card cannot.

If what you want is exchange flows as a time series rather than a stream of individual transfers,
[CryptoQuant](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/cryptoquant) and [Glassnode](https://cryptomarkets.tools/tools/glassnode) chart exchange netflow and
holder cohorts directly; [Glassnode vs CryptoQuant](https://cryptomarkets.tools/compare/glassnode-vs-cryptoquant) separates
the two. The [wallet-tracking collection](https://cryptomarkets.tools/collections/wallet-tracking) lists every card that
follows addresses, and what each can see.

## FAQ

### Is Whale Alert free?

Partly. The official alerts are posted free on X and Telegram, and the website shows recent alerts, BTC and USDT analytics and news without a subscription. Creating your own alert filters starts with the Alerts plan at 14.95 USD a month, and full analytics with the 29.95 plan. Both have a 7-day free trial.

### Can I track a specific wallet address with Whale Alert?

Not in the dashboard. Its alert filters take a blockchain, a coin, a transaction type and a minimum USD value, and nothing else. An address filter exists on the transactions endpoint of the separate Enterprise API, which starts at 699 USD a month.

### Is the Whale Alert API included in the dashboard subscription?

No. The API needs a separate developer account with its own subscription, cancelled separately. The Alerts API is 29.95 USD a month for personal use; the Enterprise API is 699 USD a month, and Enterprise Big starts at about 2,000 USD a month on a quote.

### Is there a Whale Alert app for iPhone?

Not in the App Store. The vendor's FAQ says to add the website to the home screen, which is how push notifications reach a phone. An App Store app called Whale Alert exists, but it is published by Conserve.IO Inc. and reports sightings of real whales.
