What it is

The same OctoBot engine, run for you. You sign up on the vendor's site, connect an exchange with API keys, pick a strategy and the bot runs on Drakkar-Software's infrastructure instead of on a machine you own. Nothing is installed, there is a mobile app on both stores, and the price list is three plans between free and $29.99 a month.

The distinction from the free, GPL-3.0 OctoBot is not a tier boundary, it is a different product with a different buyer. Self-hosted, you get the source, twenty tested exchanges, a command line, a backtester and the job of keeping a server alive. Hosted, you get a form, eight spot venues, no backtester at any price, and your exchange keys on somebody else's server. Anyone choosing between them is choosing custody and effort, not features — and the feature list is shorter on the paid side, which is the opposite of what a hosted tier usually means.

Sixteen trading modes ship in the open-source engine; what Cloud exposes is a narrower set of productised bots — DCA, grid, crypto basket, an AI bot, copy trading and a TradingView bot — with the last three gated to the top plan. There is no strategy designer and no scripting on any Cloud plan; the vendor's own feature data marks strategy_design unsupported across all three.

Pricing

Three plans, read from the pricing page's plan data on 19 September 2026 with the billing control on its default monthly setting. Investor is free. Investor Plus is $9.99 a month — $95.88 a year, which the page prints as a $7.99 monthly equivalent, or $149.99 once for life. Pro is $29.99 a month — $311.88 a year, a $25.99 monthly equivalent, or $499.99 for life. Cards and crypto are both accepted, and the vendor states it takes no cut of trades.

What the money buys, plan by plan, from the same data:

  • Bots at once: up to 10, 10, 30. The FAQ on the same page says "up to 20 simultaneous OctoBots", which matches neither.
  • Paper trading: 14 days on Investor, 30 days on Investor Plus, unlimited on Pro. The free plan's simulator expires, which is worth knowing before using it to evaluate anything.
  • Futures: Pro only. Investor and Investor Plus are restricted to spot in the plan data itself.
  • TradingView bot, copy trading, manual orders, portfolio rebalancing and a trading terminal: Pro only.
  • AI assistant: 3 calls a day, 30, then 100.
  • Priority support: Pro only. An onboarding call is marked unsupported on every plan.

The free plan has a mechanic most catalogues would not think to look for. Its DCA, grid, AI and crypto-basket bots and its advanced strategies are not simply absent — they are marked gradually_unlocked, and the FAQ explains that the free plan's locked features are earned by completing missions such as starting a bot or inviting a friend. That is a referral loop attached to the feature list, and it means two people on the same free plan do not have the same product.

The trial is described two ways on one page. The plan cards say "7 days free trial" under Investor Plus and Pro; the FAQ directly below says you get 14 days of full Investor Plus after signing up, after which you drop to Investor if no payment method is on file. No field on this card carries a trial length, because the vendor does not agree with itself about it.

Data & coverage

Cloud ships no market data of its own — prices come from the exchange each bot is connected to — and the venue list is the shorter half of the deal. Eight exchanges carry the spot row: Binance, Binance US, Coinbase, OKX, KuCoin, MEXC, BingX, and an eighth listed as Earn Curve. Two carry futures: Binance Futures and KuCoin Futures, both Pro only.

That is eight against the twenty the self-hosted build tests, and the overlap is not total — the hosted list includes OKX and BingX, which the self-hosted card also names, but drops Bybit, Hyperliquid, Bitget, Gate.io, HTX, Crypto.com and the rest. If the venue you trade on is not one of these eight, the hosted product cannot reach it at any price.

Crypto only. The vendor's FAQ answers the stocks-and-forex question with a flat no.

Integrations

TradingView is the real integration and it is the reason Pro exists. Alerts fired on TradingView post to the hosted bot, where each alert id maps to an automation — buy, sell or cancel, with market or limit orders, at a fixed price or a percentage off the market, sized as a share of the portfolio or a fixed amount. Custom automations take dynamic price and volume values out of Pine Script and can drive take-profits, stop-losses and futures orders. The vendor advertises no cap on alerts, bots or connected exchanges for TradingView bots on Pro, which is a genuine difference from the alert-metered competition.

Beyond that the surface is thin by design. There is no public API in the plan feature list, no webhook target other than the TradingView one, no MCP server, and no scripting environment. Mobile apps exist on both stores; the iOS listing is version 1.6.1, published 2 April 2025 by DRAKKAR-SOFTWARE, which is seventeen months without an update at the time of writing.

Limitations

No backtester, on any plan. strategy_backtester is marked unsupported on Investor, Investor Plus and Pro in the vendor's own plan data. The hosted product will sell you a strategy and run it with real money, and will not let you test it against history first. Paper trading is the substitute, and on the two cheaper plans it expires after 14 and 30 days.

What the AI surface actually emits, in plain words. The AI trading bot page publishes a live strip of named directional calls — "SOL/USDT BUY On Binance", "BTC/USDT SELL On Binance" — and advertises strategy performance as a headline number, "ChatGPT Crypto Tactics… Last month +19.33 %". The vendor's own framing is that OctoBot "uses AI models to detect and predict upcoming movements in the crypto market" and that you can "let the best AI models (like ChatGPT) manage your funds". That is why this card carries ai_features: recommendations and the warning that comes with it, and it is the sharpest split from the self-hosted card: there the model is yours, the key is yours and the pair is yours, so the flag is research; here the model is the vendor's and the output is a direction on a named pair. A past month's percentage is not a forecast, the strategies are still running on your keys and your exchange, and nothing here is a subscription to somebody else's trade calls — but read the number as marketing, not as a track record.

Your exchange keys live on the vendor's servers. That is the entire trade you are making against the self-hosted build, and it is not a criticism of the implementation, only a fact the free option does not have.

The feature matrix shrinks as well as grows. chatgpt_integration, the arbitrage bot, the strategy designer and a "pro bot" all appear in the vendor's feature vocabulary and are marked unsupported on every current plan, and advanced_index_bot and trade_stats are marked "soon" on Pro. Read the matrix rather than the feature names in the navigation.

No API and no export. Nothing in the plan data offers programmatic access to your own bots' trades, and there is no export format listed for them. What leaves the product is the weekly recap email and whatever you copy off the screen.

The pricing page disagrees with itself about both the bot cap and the trial length, as above. Small things, but they are the things that say which page somebody maintains.

Alternatives

The free OctoBot is the obvious one and the comparison is stark: source you can read, twenty tested exchanges, a real backtester, a command line — against a server you have to keep running and secure yourself.

If the reason for choosing hosted is that you do not want to run anything, the honest warning is that most of this category is self-hosted, and the ones that are not tend to charge more. If the reason is TradingView automation specifically, this is a cheap way to get it, and Pro is the plan that has it. If you came here to test a strategy before risking money, Freqtrade and Jesse are free, backtest properly and want a Python file instead of a form. The rest of the field is in Crypto Trading Bots & Execution SDKs.

FAQ

How is OctoBot Cloud different from the free OctoBot?

The engine is the same and almost nothing else is. Cloud runs on the vendor's servers with your exchange keys held there, sells three monthly plans, supports eight spot venues and two futures venues, and has no backtester on any tier. The self-hosted bot is GPL-3.0, free, runs on your own machine, supports twenty exchanges and does backtest.

Can I backtest a strategy on OctoBot Cloud?

No. The plan data behind the pricing page marks strategy_backtester as unsupported on Investor, Investor Plus and Pro alike. Backtesting lives only in the self-hosted build, which is a separate download.

Which exchanges does OctoBot Cloud support?

Eight for spot — Binance, Binance US, Coinbase, OKX, KuCoin, MEXC, BingX and one listed as Earn Curve — and two for futures, Binance Futures and KuCoin Futures. Futures are Pro only.

Does the free plan give you everything straight away?

No, and this is unusual enough to know about. On the free Investor plan the DCA, grid, AI and crypto-basket bots and the advanced strategies are marked gradually_unlocked — the vendor's FAQ says they are earned by completing missions such as starting a bot or inviting a friend.
