Quantower

What it is

A Windows order-flow desktop built for futures traders, with crypto bolted on as another set of connections. That framing matters more than any feature on the page — Quantower sells a terminal and a connector list, and crypto is seventeen names on a list that also holds CME brokers, prop firms, forex feeds and Interactive Brokers. Nothing about the product is crypto-native, and the vendor does not pretend otherwise.

What it does do, it does the way the futures world does it. Cluster charts (footprint) with imbalance colouring, four kinds of volume profile, time statistics, a DOM Trader you place orders in, Time & Sales, and a separate DOM Surface panel that draws liquidity as a heatmap. Orders go on from the chart, the DOM or the order-entry panel, against your own exchange account over an API key.

The licence model is unusual and worth understanding before you compare the monthly figure to anything else. The platform is free to download without registration and stays free forever with real limits; the paid features are sold as packages, and one of those packages — "Crypto" — is the same feature bundle as the multi-asset one at $10 less a month, on condition that you only connect to crypto.

Pricing

Everything below is month-to-month. Quantower's periods selector also offers 3 months (-10%), 6 months (-20%), a year (-30%) and a lifetime licence, and the discounts are real; the tier notes carry those figures.

Free version — $0, no registration. One connection of any kind, and no simultaneous connections. Two indicators and one overlay per chart. You still get chart trading, the DOM Trader panel, Time & Sales, the Stat Matrix, the Market Heatmap, the History Exporter, the Strategy Runner and the free C# API for writing your own indicators and strategies. What you do not get is the volume-analysis work the platform is bought for — no cluster chart, no volume profiles, no VWAP, no Dynamic VPOC — and no Renko, Kagi, P&F, Heiken Ashi, Range or Volume bars.

Crypto — $40/mo. Volume Analysis plus Advanced Features, "limited to crypto connections access only". Unlimited simultaneous crypto connections, unlimited indicators and overlays, the footprint and profile set, multiple order entry and local stop-loss/take-profit. Synthetic Symbols, the trading simulator, Market Replay and the Excel RTD function are all present but restricted to crypto instruments.

Multi-asset — $50/mo is the same bundle without the crypto restriction. All-in-One — $70/mo adds every connection plus the four things nothing else includes.

Four features are sold on their own, month-to-month, and three of them are the ones an order-flow trader will want: DOM Surface (the order-book heatmap) $30, Power Trades $25, TPO Profile Chart $20, Option Trading $50. None of the three is in the Crypto package. Volume Analysis alone is $35 and Advanced Features alone $30, which is why the $40 Crypto bundle is priced the way it is.

A 7-day full-featured trial exists and needs a registered account. Purchases do not auto-renew — the vendor says so explicitly. Refunds are limited to a first order within 10 calendar days, and lifetime licences are non-refundable. Cards and CoinPayments are both accepted.

Data & coverage

Seventeen crypto connections are marked released: Binance, Binance Futures, Binance.us, Bitfinex, Bitmex, ByBit, CoinMetro, Crypto.com, Delta Exchange Global, Deribit, HitBTC, Huobi Global, Kraken, Kucoin, OKX, RabbitX and WOO X. Three data vendors on the same page also carry crypto — AlphaVantage, dxFeed and Polygon.io — and those are feeds, not places to send an order.

Data and execution are the same list here, which is unusual in this category and is the one place Quantower is simpler than its neighbours. Each crypto connector runs in one of two modes: Info Mode, which draws charts and depth with no keys at all, and Trading Mode, which wants an exchange API key and secret. There is no separate market-data subscription for crypto and no separate execution venue — you either have keys on that exchange or you do not.

That is emphatically not true of the rest of the platform. The pricing page warns twice that third-party market data is not included in any Quantower licence and must be bought separately; that warning is about CME, equities and forex, and it is why a futures trader's real monthly cost is well above the licence figure while a crypto trader's is not.

Three connections pay for themselves. Binance, Binance Futures and ByBit sit in a block on the connections page headed "ALL PAID FEATURES for FREE with these connections". If you trade on those venues, the $40 Crypto package buys you very little: the premium feature set comes with the connection. Nothing on the page dates or limits the arrangement.

Historical data is whatever the connected exchange serves. The History Exporter writes CSV, on every tier including the free one, for any symbol and aggregation the connection supports.

Integrations

Quantower Algo is a C# API for custom indicators, strategies and panels, with a Visual Studio extension, and it is free on every tier including the free version. Strategies run in the Strategy Runner panel, also free. Chart and indicator alerts can fire webhooks with substitution variables, so signals can reach something outside the platform without writing a plugin.

Synthetic Symbols builds multi-leg spreads you can chart and trade — one leg per instrument, with separate trade ratios and price multipliers. That is the closest thing here to a cross-venue instrument, and it is a spread, not an aggregated book.

There is no public REST or WebSocket API for reading Quantower's data from outside, and no MCP server: a search of the vendor's full documentation dump for "mcp" and "model context protocol" returns nothing.

Limitations

• Windows only. The download page offers one build, for Windows 10/11 64-bit. No macOS, no Linux, no browser version. In a category where two competitors now ship macOS builds, this is the first thing that decides it.
• There is no consolidated cross-venue order book. You can connect to many exchanges at once above the free tier and put their charts side by side, and you can build a synthetic spread out of two legs — but nothing in the licence comparison or the connections page describes merging depth from several exchanges into one ladder. If a merged book is what you came for, this is a set of tabs.
• The order-book heatmap is not in the crypto package. DOM Surface is All-in-One or $30 a month on its own, on top of the $40. So is Power Trades at $25 and the TPO chart at $20. A crypto trader who wants the heatmap is at $70 a month, which is the All-in-One price.
• No Screener on the Crypto tier. The licence comparison marks it unavailable on both Free and Crypto, and available only on Multi-asset and All-in-One.
• The connector list is not maintained. Bittrex still sits in it marked "soon"; Bittrex Global disabled all trading on 4 December 2023. Huobi Global has traded as HTX since 2023. The OKX documentation page is still titled "Connection to OKEx". None of that breaks a working connection, but it tells you how often the list is read.
• The free version is not a usable order-flow terminal, by design. Two indicators per chart and no cluster chart means the free tier demonstrates the platform rather than running on it — unless you are on Binance or Bybit, where the rule above overrides this one entirely.
• Options analytics stop at four strikes on Free, Crypto and Multi-asset; the full option desk is All-in-One or the $50 Option Trading add-on.
• No backtester was found. The documentation dump has zero hits for "backtest" and the licence comparison has no backtesting row; Market Replay, which is restricted to crypto instruments on the Crypto package, is the nearest thing the vendor names.
