Solscan Pro API
The Solana explorer's own index over REST — decoded actions, labels and DeFi activity.
Best for developers who need Solana account, token, transfer and decoded DeFi history without running an indexer, and will pay at least 199 USD a month to use it commercially; not for other chains or a free tier.

What it is
The data behind the Solscan block explorer, sold as a REST API. Five domains, by the docs' introduction: accounts (balances, token holdings, transactions, transfers, DeFi activity, staking, portfolio value, who funded an address, labels), tokens (metadata, holders, latest and historical price, markets, trending and newly created tokens), NFTs, transactions and blocks both raw and decoded, and DEX market and pool data. It is the Solana counterpart of the Etherscan API: per-address and per-token lookups against an explorer's index, not a query engine.
Decoded is the reason to buy it. Solana programs are instructions, not EVM events, and turning them into "a swap on Raydium" or "a deposit to Kamino" means maintaining a decoder per program. Solscan returns those as typed actions across the protocols its coverage map lists — Jupiter, Raydium, Orca, Meteora, OpenBook, Pump.fun, Phoenix, Drift and nearly thirty more on the DEX side, Kamino, Solend and Marginfi among lenders, Marinade, Jito, Sanctum and others for staking, and Magic Eden, Tensor and Metaplex for NFTs. Its label set, by the API page, runs to "Over 100M Labels across all accounts".
Pricing
In US dollars, from the documentation's plan table read on 23 October 2026. The plans page on solscan.io describes the API and prints no prices.
- Lite — 49 a month, 20 million compute units, 1,000 requests a minute.
- Level 2 — 199, 150 million CU, 1,000 a minute, every endpoint.
- Level 3 — 399, 500 million CU, 2,000 a minute.
- Level 4 — 1,099, 1.5 billion CU, 3,000 a minute.
- Enterprise — by contact.
A compute unit is a hundredth of a call. Every endpoint "currently" costs a flat 100 CU, so the plans are 200,000, 1.5 million, 5 million and 15 million calls a month. Top-up CU expire at the end of the cycle.
The licence is the real floor. The API terms, last updated 1 October 2026, license "the Free and Lite Plans" for personal and research use only and put "Commercial Application Use" on Level 2 and above — and commercial use includes anything that earns revenue directly or indirectly and anything run by or for a company, protocol, foundation or DAO, internal analytics included. So the cheapest plan a business may use is 199 dollars.
What Lite leaves out depends on the page. The plan table excludes account/metadata,
account/funded_by and the "multi" bulk endpoints. The rate-limits page excludes those and also
market/price_ohlcv and the funding-out filter on account transfers.
Card payments go through Stripe. Crypto is accepted only on a commitment of six months or more, arranged by email. Nothing is refunded: "All payments made are final and strictly non-refundable."
Data & coverage
Solana mainnet only; the FAQ says there is no testnet and no plan for one. History by the FAQ: transfers back five years, to July 2021; balance changes and DeFi activities six months. Token price and market cap arrive with a three-minute delay; the token list endpoint covers the top 2,000 tokens by market cap. Lending has no endpoint of its own and is read through DeFi activities filtered by program. There are no webhooks and no streaming in the docs; watching an address means polling it.
Integrations
MCP server, first-party. Hosted at mcp.solscan.io/mcp over Streamable HTTP, it exposes
account, token, trading, label, block and decoded-transaction tools and needs a Pro API key. On 23
October 2026 an unauthenticated initialize returned solscan-mcp-server 1.0.0 and a fabricated
path on the same host returned 404. Code samples in the reference cover JavaScript, Python, Go, C#
and shell.
Limitations
- One chain. Nothing outside Solana mainnet.
- No free plan in the plan table — though the terms mention a Free plan and reserve the right to throttle it. The docs' reference lists one public endpoint, chain information.
- Short DeFi history. Six months of DeFi activities and balance changes; anything older needs a different source.
- Display and resale rules. Attribution — "Powered by Solscan.io APIs" — is required wherever the data is shown, on every plan. Reselling the data, running a proxy or feed that passes it on, or building a competing service is prohibited.
- The terms read as adapted from another explorer's. The attribution clause links "Solscan.io" to etherscan.io, the refund-policy link goes to etherscan.io, and one paragraph limits "Lite and Standard customers" and frees "Advanced and higher-plan customers" — plan names Solscan does not sell. The plan-based section is the one that names Solscan's plans. The subscription guide also carries a leftover editorial note to "grab fresh screenshots … before publishing this section".
Alternatives
Birdeye Data is the Solana-first token API with a free plan, priced in compute units too. Bitquery and Dune answer cross-address questions with GraphQL and SQL. Mobula covers Solana wallets and tokens alongside other chains. On EVM chains the equivalent is the Etherscan API.

- Bitquery — GraphQL over indexed chains — self-service plans are a real-time window, not history.

- Etherscan API — The explorer's own index over REST — one key across 33 EVM mainnets, licensed by plan.
- Footprint Analytics — Drag-and-drop charts or SQL over an indexed warehouse, free — with a slowing pulse.
- Cielo — Follow wallets on 30-plus chains, with PnL profiles and Telegram and Discord alerts.

Background
How this part of the industry works, rather than which product to pick.
- What an exchange's proof of reserves proves, and what it leaves out — Proof of reserves compares wallets an exchange says it owns with customer balances at one snapshot. Who checks it, as of when, and what sits outside it.
- What an Ethereum RPC endpoint cannot answer — The eth_ namespace is one half of Ethereum. Staking, proposer pay, private order flow and smart-account users sit outside it, and so does some of the ETH.
- Where an on-chain number comes from before you see it — Four stages sit between a block and a dashboard — a node, an indexer, an attribution layer and a metric definition. Each one is a decision you cannot see.
FAQ
How much does the Solscan API cost?
From 49 USD a month for Lite to 1,099 for Level 4, with Enterprise by contact, by the documentation's plan table on 23 October 2026. Every call costs a flat 100 compute units, so Lite's 20 million CU is 200,000 calls a month. The plan page on solscan.io prints no prices.
Can I use the Solscan API Lite plan in a commercial app?
Not by the API terms last updated on 1 October 2026, which license the Free and Lite plans for personal and research use only and define commercial use to include anything that earns revenue or runs for a business, protocol or DAO. Commercial use starts at Level 2, 199 USD a month.
Does Solscan have an MCP server?
Yes, hosted at mcp.solscan.io/mcp over Streamable HTTP and used with a Pro API key. On 23 October 2026 an unauthenticated initialize request returned the server's name, solscan-mcp-server 1.0.0, and a made-up path on the same host returned 404.
Can I pay for the Solscan API in crypto?
Only on a commitment of six months or more, arranged by email with support. Card payments go through Stripe. Plans are not refunded once bought, and top-up compute units expire at the end of the billing cycle.
